Frequently asked questions

How will I Feel after a reiki session?

Whether receiving an in-person or distance treatment, Reiki sessions typically leave clients feeling refreshed and grounded. Channeled Reiki energy goes exactly where it is needed and you may feel more relaxed or more energized, depending on your needs.

For a short amount of time you may also experience traces of emotions that have been unblocked and brought to the surface to be released. You may also feel more tired than usual for a few hours after a session, or you may feel better than you have felt in years! Everyone is unique and it depends on what you are focused on healing.

Why is it important to be well-hydrated before and after a reiki session?

Going into a Reiki session well-hydrated is helpful as it allows energy to flow more freely. During a treatment the toxins stored in the body’s tissues are often released and it is important that they are flushed with plenty of water. Not drinking enough water may contribute to unpleasant symptoms after a session including temporary tiredness, nausea, or a low-grade headache.

HOw many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different. Chronic issues that have existed for quite some time typically require more sessions. However, some clients experience significant changes in just one session. Most Reiki lineages recommend at least four initial Reiki treatments, spaced closely together, to jump start the healing process.

How does a distance session worK?

As humans, we tend to make sense of the world linearly; however, time, space, and energy are in fact non-linear. Just as one’s love for another is unaffected by distance or time, so too is energy. Reiki is a high vibrational energy that can be sent—and felt—regardless of proximity.

To get the most out of a distance session, you will want to spend 10-15 minutes getting comfortable in a safe, quiet space. You can sit up or lie down, depending on your preference. Quieting the mind through meditation, soothing music, intention-setting, or any other personal practice helps to put the body in a receptive state.

At the beginning of the session, I will ask you questions regarding your physical, emotional, and/or spiritual needs and goals. Using specific crystals and sacred Reiki symbols, I will begin a full body treatment channeling Reiki in real time. Remote sessions are either over the phone or via zoom based on your preference. At the end of the session we will debrief your initial goals and see if there are any other areas that you would like to focus on, or discuss any lingering questions that may have come up.

After a Reiki session, it is important to hydrate and give yourself at least 10 minutes, or more, to begin integrating your Reiki healing experience. Some people enjoy taking a walk, journaling, or ending with a brief meditation.

Is an in person visit more effective than a remote session?

In-person and remote sessions offer the same healing potential and are equally effective. Meeting in person or remotely comes down to personal preference and proximity to location.

How should I prepare for an in person reiki session?

Please plan on arriving on location at least 10 minutes before your session is scheduled to begin.

Your Reiki session will be on a massage table, lying down or sitting up based on your comfort. Please wear comfortable clothing and prepare to remove only your shoes.

We will spend a few minutes reviewing your needs and desired outcome, and end with enough time to debrief the experience and discuss any additional questions that may have come up.
